International Design Award for Otto Bock.

The 1C30 Trias prosthesis foot from Otto Bock has received the international “Legacy for the Future Design Award” in Korea. At the “Design Korea” festival in Seoul, the Trias was declared the winner in the “Human Comfort Design” category.
The “Legacy for the Future” design award is intended for products that permanently improve people’s mobility and quality of life while serving as an example for future product developments. The award has three categories – “Human Comfort Design”, Eco-friendly Design”, and “Cultural Identity Design”. The Trias had already met the approval of an international panel of experts last year: It received the red dot “best of the best” designation in the product design field, the highest honour at the 2007 red dot design awards.
Otto Bock engineers developed the Trias based on the natural human foot. The Trias combines a contemporary design, innovative lightweight construction, and outstanding gait characteristics: Easy, energy-saving rollover, improved gait symmetry, and reduced strain on the sound leg. Linked double spring elements made from carbon dampen the impact of the heel and provide support during rollover. As a result, the Trias helps the wearer achieve a very harmonious gait pattern.
