The fitting process – you are in good hands with us

At Otto Bock Patient Care Centres, you are in good hands. We make you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Your personal team works with you for the most effective rehabilitation possible. Please note that the entire rehabilitation process usually takes an average of about six months for an initial fitting. Your own motivation and participation are crucial to rehabilitation success.

During the fitting process, we consistently document your mobility progress through our quality management system. We keep ourselves informed about your individual needs at each process step and can act accordingly.

Assessment

The first steps in your fitting process consist of a personal interview and a thorough examination which is either conducted in our Centre, in a hospital or in your home. We take our time in order to obtain a detailed understanding of your needs and expectations.

Therapy

Therapeutic measures to prepare you for your fitting follow. During this time, you are purposefully prepared to wear your device in order to achieve a high level of mobility and independence in your daily life.

Treatment recommendation

As your therapy progresses, we work with your doctor to develop a recommendation of the best possible fitting to meet your needs and the personal goals you should pursue.

Measurement

Once you have selected a fitting, we take your individual measurements. This is either done using a plaster cast or with the help of special digital technology.

Production

We fabricate your personal interim device based on your measurements. The interim device is a temporary solution that is later replaced by your final device.

Fitting

You can test your new device at the first trial fitting. In order to achieve high functionality and comfort, we conduct further verification and adaptations. For fittings in the leg region, we use the “Dartfish” video software to conduct an individual motion analysis that objectively illustrates and documents your mobility progress.

Rehabilitation

After all these steps are completed, your final device is fabricated based on the interim solution. We recommend physiotherapy or occupational therapy sessions at our Competence Centre so you can learn to take full advantage of the functionality offered by your device. This is the best way to ensure you can use your device properly in your daily life.

Quality check

Once rehabilitation is complete, your device is inspected one more time and final adjustments are made. You also talk to our experts to determine your comfort level with your device. In conclusion, we explain all the details regarding the use and care of your new device. We want you to be fully satisfied before you leave the Competence Centre after we help you improve your quality of life.

Follow-up

Your fitting needs to be inspected at regular intervals and your device adapted accordingly. Additional visits to the Competence Centre are required for this purpose. We look forward to welcoming you back to our facility.
