Delivery Times

General Orthotics take 5 working days in the workshop, which includes A.F.O’s, general footwear repairs and adaptions, insoles and fabric supports. More complicated Orthotics like callipers and block leather orthoses can take up to ten days to manufacture. We can also accommodate any urgent requests as long prior notice is given.

Delivery and Collection

Otto Bock employs a dedicate delivery driver to ensure we provide our customers with a reliable, personal delivery service, thus eliminating the need for the arrangement of couriers. This service offers our customers the peace of mind that their goods will be delivered safely both to and from the clinic. Otto Bock also provides robust transit containers free of charge for the storing of goods prior to collection to and from the clinic. This provides secure storage for the goods, and eliminates the time wasted packaging up goods for a courier.

Training and Education Clinician

Otto Bock has an Orthotics Training and Education clinician who regularly holds seminars and demonstrations on our latest products like the EMAG Active and Free Walk. Our clinician is also more than happy to help with any assessments for the Free Walk and EMAG Active.

Fabrication Unit

All healthcare professionals are welcome to come and visit our production unit and meet the technicians and discuss their requirements for the manufacture of their orthoses. Or, alternatively, we would welcome the opportunity to visit you in your clinic and discuss how we can help you improve your orthotic service.

Lamination Room

Lamination technology pioneered by Otto Bock offers a high quality finish to K.A.F.O’s and A.F.O’s in many decorative styles using lycra or water transfer techniques. The laminated orthosis offers an improved weight to strength ratio, and can offer over a 40% weight reduction over thermoplastics. The lamination process consists of the combination of two materials: clear acrylic resin and carbon fibre. Our technicians can align the carbon fibre to determine the directional strength and structural efficiency of the orthosis. This means that laminated orthosis can be lightweight, slim yet extremely durable.

Footwear and Adaptions

Otto Bock manufactures a full range of surgical, modular and stock footwear, which are available in extensive range of colours, materials and styles. We also offer repairs and adaptions to our own and patients footwear. This includes raises, rocker soles, sole or heel wedges, sockets, any additional strapping like T straps and carbon fibre sole plates. Our footwear department also specialises in the manufacture insoles. We have invested heavily in Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture for both EVA and polypropylene insoles. This means we can offer a very fast turnaround and exact repeatability of orders at the touch of a button. Our insoles can be manufactured in a wide choice of EVA shore densities, including dual density EVA. Once the insoles are milled on the CAM machine they can be finished with a variety of met pads and/or domes, postings and a comprehensive range of coverings as required.

Metalwork

Our metal work department manufactures complete range of devices from cosmetic callipers and hip spicas to traditional below knee irons. Our experienced technicians are also qualified to manufacture:

Leatherwork

Otto Bock’s leatherwork section and metal work sections are very closely linked, as much of the metalwork is passed onto the leatherwork section to be finished by hand with quality leather stitching. We pride ourselves in having some of the best block leatherwork in the country, and we still regularly manufacture lumbar support orthoses, wrist hand orthoses and dolls collars. Our leather work section also manufactures bespoke helmets for patients who are at risk of incurring head injuries. These are available in a variety of styles and colours with a fully adjustable chin strap for comfort.

Belt Room

Our belt room manufactures a wide range of bespoke lumbar, hernia and thoracic supports, as well as arm and leg gaiters for both adults and children. Otto Bock’s paediatric gaiters are available in a wide variety of the latest material designs to suit all tastes. The technicians can also adapt patients own Bras’, as well any other bespoke adaptations to stock fabric supports as necessary.
