Mobility means quality of life. This includes the user being able to be seated within their wheelchair, buggy or mobility base during transportation in a motor vehicle thus removing the inconvenience of transferring from their wheeled mobility equipment into a vehicle seat.
Manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, mobility bases with a seating shell or rehab buggies: nearly all Otto Bock rehab products offer optional equipment with attachment points.
The wheeled mobility units that are suitable for use in transportation have been tested in accordance with the relevant standards.
Recently it has become possible to transport disabled people whilst seated in Otto Bock products in appropriate motor vehicles. Several international standards regulate these requirements.
The following standards apply:
in all countries (internationally) ISO 7176 part 19
in the USA ANSI/ RESNA WC/19
For this purpose, the appliances (wheelchairs or mobility bases with seating shell) are equipped with attachment points.
These attachment anchor brackets are individually configurated for each product. They may only be used in combination with corresponding wheelchair tie down systems and attachment rails in an appropriate motor vehicle.
The following products can be equipped with anchor attachment points according to the international standards:
