creative & versatile

“Dancing is my life; that’s who I am”. Ebru Ozkan has been dancing for as long as she can remember. She was predestined for a professional career. Her versatility – dancing everything from traditional dances to her own choreography – brought her more than a few prizes and made her a star in her homeland Turkey. A car accident in 2004 changed nothing. Quite the opposite. The media celebrated her comeback and reported on developments after her upper‑thigh amputation. Only six months after her first fitting with the C-Leg, Ebru was dancing again.
Both her family and her boyfriend provided her with tremendous support after her accident. “It is wonderful that he understands my passion for dancing. I can dance with him at anytime, wherever we are. On the tram, shopping or simply on the street”.
Ebru is a young woman who exudes an unbelievable joie de vivre. And she is very creative. She not only choreographs her own dances, but also designs her own costumes. She would like to improve on this talent next year at a fashion institute in London. “I would like to be as successful in fashion, as I am in dance”.
A major role model for Ebru after her accident was Christine Wolf, the silver medal winner in the long jump at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens. “I hung a framed poster of her in my room. In the meantime I have replaced her picture with one of myself. I hope that my success will also make me a role model for other people”.
Ebru’s greatest dream is to receive an engagement on Broadway with her dancing partner or to work as a background dancer for Britney Spears. “But Britney has not yet responded to any of my e-mails”, said Ebru, laughing. She will also find success without Britney. Energetically and with lots of fun.
