A specialist manufacturer and supplier of prostheses and orthoses, providing a service to both Cappagh Hospital and the Central Remedial Clinic, both based in Dublin.
In 1999, IDS formed a strategic partnership with Otto Bock Clinical Division in the UK, which has been mutually very beneficial. The Otto Bock group is probably the largest P&O organisation in the world and the partnership gives IDS access to their unrivalled resources.
The team includes nine prosthetist/orthotists, who are all formally qualified University graduates. The prostheses and orthoses are manufactured and maintained by ten technicians, while two store persons are in charge of components and materials. Four administrators take care of appointments, accounts etc.
IDS also has a strong association with the Royal college of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), and provide the prosthetic and orthotic modules for the orthopaedic surgical registrar training scheme.

The administration, manufacturing and main clinical facilities are located within the hospital grounds. Prosthetic and orthotic clinics are held at Cappagh five days per week, Monday to Friday. We currently hold a combined prosthetic and orthotic satelite clinic in the Limerick area twice per month. Orthotic statelite clinics are also held in many other areas of Ireland. Currently these include Waterford, Cavan, Navan, Monaghan, Dundalk, Drogheada, Sligo and Letterkenny.
