Ottobock reveals new Mid Wheel Drive option and B4 model in Juvo range

Ottobock are excited to announce the launch of a new Mid Wheel Drive option in the ground-breaking Juvo range, plus a new model, the B4. Originally launched in 2017, Ottobock’s Juvo powered wheelchairs provide a winning combination of reliability, safety and design with multiple options that can be tailored to the individual person.

The Juvo range is suitable for a wide variety of conditions including; Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Motor Neurone Disease, Spina Bifida and spinal injuries. This stylish wheelchair has a maximum weight limit of between 140KG and 160KG depending on the selected model.

There are endless choices including options for front or rear wheel drive depending on the needs of the individual. An exciting new addition, the Juvo B5 and B6 models are now available in Mid Wheel Drive. The new Mid Wheel Drive option offers incomparable driving characteristics for all fields of application, with single-wheel suspension and torsion drive system for an intuitive drive type. Thanks to the direct pivot point, safe handling is possible even with more complex forms of input.

Building on the success of the popular B400 powered wheelchair the, rear-wheel drive Juvo B4 is the entry level model in the Juvo range, using the components of the Juvo family. This makes spare parts management and retrofitting extremely straightforward, flexible and economical – for example in case of reuse. Thanks to its modular design and the available options, there are numerous possibilities for assembling a modern, customised device.

Juvo B4 standard equipment includes:

  • 6 km/h, 4-pole motors
  • Drive wheel suspension
  • Standard seat with seat cushion and mechanical back support angle adjustment up to 30°
  • Lap belt for positioning
  • Removable side panel with soft arm support and double profile
  • Swing-away leg supports
  • Easy to service, low-maintenance AGM batteries
  • Joystick control with the ability to operate two power functions
  • LED lighting according to German Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (StVZO)

The full Juvo range, including Mid Wheel Drive options and the new B4 will be displayed at Ottobock’s stand at Naidex 2018, 25th and 26th April at the NEC, Birmingham. Ottobock and Recare have joined forces for Naidex 2018, bringing together Recare’s expert team and Ottobock’s state-of-the-art mobility technology. The two companies will be working together on stand 2220 throughout the event.
