Walk more naturally

The WalkOn Reaction plus promotes a largely physiological gait. Depending on your current phase in the gait cycle, knee extension and flexion are supported by the special structure (frontal support element) of the orthosis – even when your activity level increases and you require greater support for knee extension. Your gait pattern becomes smoother.

Fewer compensating movements

Compensating movements can lead to signs of wear. The WalkOn Reaction plus can reduce these through its high energy return. You walk more symmetrically, because the orthosis stores energy at heel strike and releases it again during the rollover movement of the foot.

Enhanced safety

Your safety is increased because the WalkOn Reaction plus supports and lifts your foot in the swing phase as you walk. The risk of catching the tip of your foot, for example on carpet edges or uneven ground, is reduced.

Use regular footwear

The orthosis fits in any shoe that provides support. You only need to make sure that the shoe has a reinforced heel. To put on the orthosis, position the WalkOn Reaction plus in the shoe and then slide your foot in.

Lightweight and discreet

The WalkOn Reaction plus is lightweight, slim and discreet under clothing. A shin pad makes it even more comfortable for you. It is made of temperature-regulating padding material, which reduces the build-up of heat and perspiration.

Robust and durable

The WalkOn Reaction plus is especially robust. It has proven its durability in tests and long-term functional testing.

WalkOn product family

There are six WalkOn orthoses. This allows your doctor or orthopaedic technician to select the product that is most suitable for your personal condition and the severity of your paralysis.

Indications

  • Dorsiflexor weakness, without or with moderate spasticity.

  • In case of additional loss of the foot lowering musculature and/or moderate weakness of the knee extensors (extension of the knee joint against gravity should be possible)

  • In addition to the functions of the WalkOn Reaction, the WalkOn Reaction plus is suitable for users who achieve a higher level of activity and therefore require greater support for knee extension.

FAQ

  • How do I put on the WalkOn Reaction plus?

    We recommend that you place the orthosis into the shoe first and then insert your foot. Then you can simply fasten the hook-and-loop closures.

  • Do I need a special shoe for the WalkOn Reaction plus?

    No, but you should select a sturdy shoe with a reinforced heel. It is important that the orthosis fits firmly so that it moves as little as possible. We also recommend a heel height of 10 mm; alternatively this can be determined by your technician. Your other shoes should of course have the same heel height.

  • Is it possible to play sports with the WalkOn Reaction plus?

    Yes, in fact it is recommended that you are active. Speak to your orthopaedic technician to get their advice on which sports are the most beneficial and how to make the best use of your orthosis. You should however avoid extreme and abrupt movements.

  • How do I care for the WalkOn Reaction plus?

    The orthosis should be wiped regularly using water and a mild cleaning agent. All pads and closures are combined, and all textile components can be washed and replaced. We recommend washing the pad at least twice a week (machine washable at 40°C).

  • Can I get extra pads for the WalkOn Reaction plus?

    Replacement pads can of course be ordered through your orthopaedic technician. He or she can then adapt the pads for you.

  • Can I drive a car with the WalkOn Reaction plus?

    It is not possible to make any specific recommendation. You must be able to safely control any vehicle for which you require a driving licence and insurance, or which is used in traffic. Your ability to drive a car with a WalkOn Reaction plus should be determined on an individual basis. You are required to observe national and state laws.
